CODA

One of the deep rooted understandings of BoB is reflected in our choice of Alliance symbol:
http://www.bandofbrothers.org.uk/forum/files/bob_15_copy_161.jpg

It means "Tribe" and is a reflection of the brotherhood that our alliance.

This brotherhood however was built over a long time through the blood sweat and tears associated with the meat-grinder of various battles and campaigns.

The unbreakable trust that we have amongst each other and our leaders has bridged every kind of herculean task that has been put in front of us.

However, one thing we have discovered has been that whenever an alliance stands up against us in eve, it is not long before they start bitching at each other rather than using that aggression against BoB. It seems easier to start "internal disputes" than actually fight us.

The CODA campaign was a prime example of how to dismantle an alliance from within with extreme ease. If EVE historical papers were written on "How to dismantle a new alliance in 3 days" then they should just give the example of CODA.

However, I'm getting ahead of myself here. Let me get kick back a bit and explain what CODA is.

Before EC-P8R, we thought long and hard about who we were going to have remain as positive to BoB. There had to be some pets and friends that would need to remain on positive.

Most of them were easy to decide. FIX was the biggest sticking point. We had an alliance next door who were the best possible neighbours you could imagine. All issues were resolved within seconds and we simply got on well.

However, with Querious being a completely contested region, we needed an alliance next door who were able to throw off the hardest off attacks. We knew if we dropped the positive that this would happen. So we did it and sat back to watch what happened.

It didn't take long for the vultures to pour in. After SA's failure to achieve anything against us or FIX last time, they persuaded Huzzah and Smash to join an alliance against FIX.

This worked well and over the course of the war they pushed FIX back to 9CG. However, they used a lot of resources, both logistically and physically to attain this goal.

We sat back watching all of this. Their alliance pulled in more small alliances like VOX who were promised an area of Querious when the war was over.

Why exactly this "coalition" thought that we were going to stand back and let them take over the region next door to us then dictate who would go into it is completely beyond me. Needless to say we weren't going to let that happen.

So we watched, we waited patiently. We allowed Western Querious to be populated by the alliances.

Finally, it happened. SA/Huzzah/Vox/Smash were joined by IMP/VC/FA and made a final push on 9CG.

We let them get into 9CG. We let them take the station.

The very second the station fell, we moved in.

XirtamVOTF tried to grab control of this coalition of small alliances:
http://myeve.eve-online.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=341108
http://myeve.eve-online.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=342540

At this point we named the coalition - CODA or Coalition Of Dead Allainces because nearly all of them had been whupped by us at one point.

He saw an opportunity to get more people under his control. He didn't care about the alliances, nor what they thought. He just wanted to be in command of a large alliance again.

So came the battle.

We went in with some of BoB and started the fight. We were outnumbered initially but kicked some serious ass. Their whole fleet was dismantled.

After the fight, we gave them some time to build up inside 9CG again. So that we could get some more fights. 2 days to be precise.

Unfortunately during that time we lost a Dreadnought. "Marv" was killed as it jumped into 9CG.

That was it. No more mr. nice guy.

We pulled everyone available into 9CG. This was going to be a fight to the death.

CODA amassed an impressive army. It was twice our size inside 9CG.

They moved to the station and began setting up bubbles around the station. In every direction they were placed in order to stop us getting in and out.

It didn't work.

We began the attack.

Warp in. Kill some ships. Warp out.
Rinse, Repeat.

This continued for an hour. They were losing 2 or 3 ships to every one of ours they killed.

Eventually, we had a similar number of ships to them. We went in backed up by Dreadnoughts and Carriers.

The battle raged at close range but when the dust settled, their fleet had been wiped out.

Then the fun really began. We started hunting down their safespots and killing their Capital Ships.

The next day, CODA was in disarray, they started arguing with each other and our well placed spies encouraged the infighting.

Xirtam got the blame for getting some of the other alliances Capital Ships killed. He, of course, couldn't careless about them. This led to more arguments and bad blood between the groups.

Before it had barely began, the fight for 9CG was over. CODA pulled out en masse and refused to come and fight. The remaining enemy inside 9CG was killed off and we took complete control.

We came to an agreement with FIX that we would control the stations while they would live in the region. This would allow them to go and kill anyone they wanted but still have a base without the hassle of having half of eve coming after it.

CODA was silenced. Xirtam was silenced.

However, more satisfying than anything was SA being silenced. Again they had completely failed to achieve anything and this made the allies they had in this fight question their allegiance with SA. They had promised the world and failed to deliver.

Somehow, I think you slip last final massive desperate attack of CODA on our POS. Or wasn't last? Anyway was a bloody week. And before that was our week trip on V2. I think your great skill on print the story can describe that. Thank you for these moments.

I wasn't in the Huzzah attack at all and didn't really see much write up of it so I can't really comment.

Unfortunately during that time we lost a Dreadnought. "Son of Marv" was killed as it jumped into 9CG.
Wasn't it Marv that was killed ? ^^

your best bet would be to ask some of the FIXians who were present to write up some first hand accounts. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be the one to say anything about it, as I was in the now-defunct Crystaltech inc.[CRYTK] at the time.

(digression: we were famous, really! look on the Mercenary Coalition history movie and we're one of the prominently featured corps that had surrendered to them back in 107 YC)

I, however, am one of the new wave of FIX recruits, and I must say, I couldn't have picked a better alliance, especially during our current reconstruction. hitting the 700 club once again is nice, as well as continuing to kick HF's ass, as we continue to ride the wave of our successes. Here's to a continuation of friendship between FIX and BoB, providing EVE's example of proper neighborly co-existance in the South!

At times there were 300-400 in local and lag was a bitch. Our first few warp ins on the station where they were camping we were loosing ppl to lag. But we adapted and started loading the grid before attacking and began to wear them down. CODA then started putting 'loads' of cans up around the station to give them close warp points when we attacked at range, and ironically accusing us of causing the lag.

We also got a number of kills by having roaming support pin down ppl who had warped out of the main battle.

Once the station had been taken by BOB there was a certain amount of station ping pong as numbers on both sides oscillated. Fix still had soveriegnty in the system so in order to deny CODA the station we gave it to FIX. Their Poses had just come out of reinforced mode, and CODA was somewhat surprised to discover that a Pos coming out of reinforced does not have to wait 5 days to claim Sov. A well timed server crash also seemed to work in our favour this time by making the station invulnerable (unfortunately for CODA who had been shooting the station for 5 hrs).

XirtamVotf > Revan
GM Revan > \o
XirtamVotf > we took station before server crash
Unaralas > Where's Malak?
*shuts up now*
XirtamVotf > and cant get it
GM Revan > Obviously something not right
XirtamVotf > been shooting it for 5 hours
Seraphim Io > Seraphim Io
Percy Loudbottom > xirt, doesnt fix have sov?
XirtamVotf > if that was the case bob counnt have taken it huh /
XirtamVotf > ?
Percy Loudbottom > map says fix = sov
Percy Loudbottom > right now I mean
XirtamVotf > not pertinent
Darpz > sov is bugged, should be contested since non of the POS have been active the required 5 days
Matrixx > *6 days
Darpz > the way it statnds now Sov should be contested till wednesday when our POS gains SOV, then Thurs Smash will gain sov and then Friday Fix will become active again if there still there
untook > unless reinforced poses regain sov as soon as they come out of reinforced
Zenfar > uh oh someone is figuring it out
savantor > if that was the case, bob would have never been able to take the station, then gave it to FIX
Unaralas > they took it from us though, we did not have sov
savantor > how did you take it in the first place if you didnt have SOV?
Zenfar > once sov is gained anyone can shoot the station until the alliance that has sovernty actually claims it
savantor > its CONTESTED space
Aero089 > and you say you control the station huh
Darpz > even if that were true
Darpz > the server crashing earlier shouldn't count as DT
Darpz > so we should be able to reclaim the station before DT
Darpz > keeping it contested for another day
Zenfar > eerr no

There also the case of the CODA ship which popped leaving a CODA safespot bookmark in its can, which then allowed us to have a carrier BBQ .
