Caldari Championships Part II - The Early Rounds
Round 1
Our first round match was against the PA. We felt this was very appropriate after the GNW and relished the challenge.
The team were pretty nervous going into the first round. Although this was the first competition, we still had a very high standard to live up to. Alot of the pre-competition betting was on us.
Blacklight downed a bottle of wine before the match to get in the right mood. I imagine Alasse had 29 pies and 42 mars bars to get into his zone. TWD no doubt had a game of risk with Dukath.
They entered the arena and PA fielded a Dominix, Eagle and Stiletto.
This should be easy.
The tactics were to pop the Eagle with t2 ammo from blacklight and Alasse while TWD killed the frigate then concentrate on the rest.
The fight starts.
The PA eagle pops in 2 vollets from the CNR.
They turn on the Dominix. It pops in record time.
They finish the stilleto off.
In under 2 minutes, we have annihilated the PA team.
Round 2
Some notable losses had been marked already in the championships. G got owned by IRON but probably more surprisingly, Aegis Militia held on for an amazing victory against MC when MC looked like they should have strolled it.
For us this was good news, we had worried about MC so our run to the semi's looked easier.
Our next round was against the Nova Republic. They fielded a Megathron, ishtar and a wolf.
Again this looked straight forward enough. There was little doubt that the megathron could do enough damage to the CNR at all.
The match started and almost instantly the wolf and ishtar of NOVA was dead. The CNR's t2 ammo instapopped them.
The mega followed shortly afterwards.
BoB had dispatched both first round oppenents in under five minutes total!
Round 3
This is the first round where the battle might be a bit harder. The opposition are Aegis Militia who knocked MC out of the tournament.
They also were the first alliance to use a faction battleship against us. Their line up was:
Machariel, Zealot, Retribution.
We stuck to our same tactics - blow up the Hac, go for the frigate then finish up with the battleship.
The fight started and within 2 minutes, the enemy Hac and frigate had popped.
It was 3 vs 1, so BoB started to pummel the macherial.
It had an impressive tank and even managed to pop TWD but was no match for us by itself.
5 minutes later and it's tank had broken and we were into the quarter finals.
Quarter Finals
This was the last match in our quarter of the tournament. If we won this, we were into the semi-finals and the serious fights would begin.
However, first things first. Tribal Souls had to be dispatched.
This was going to be a tricky fight because it was going to be CNR vs CNR.
The other ships for Tribal were the Cerberus and Hawk.
There was discussion about how best to deal with this, whether to change tactics or not but the final decision was to just stick with the same tactics.
1 minute into the fight and those tactics looked very valid. Cerb and Hawk were dead already.
The Tribal Souls CNR popped TWD again but it was no match for our forces.
We go through to the semi's and the fun really starts.
