The Great Northern War: Part 1 - In the beginning

After the success of our previous campaigns, we were confident that with the support of other alliances we could turn this war into one which would lead to victory.

From the start, our initial timescale was to have PA all but dissassembled by the time SHIVA came round and to be living inside Venal. That gave us around 4 months to break down the PA completely.

But how does one go about breaking down something which has maintained it's basic form from the beginning of alliances inside of Eve?

For a start we needed allies. These were going to be allies unlike anything we had fought alongside before. So the chain of events go as follows:

On the 28th of May 2004 (old Earthtime) Reikoku declares war on the PA.

From the offset, Evolution agree to continue their previous war against PA. They had already brought the PA to their knees but left to fight in Curse.

Jericho Fraction are also quick to lend thier support to the war:

As arbirators between us and PA, they saw the injustices being aimed at our corporations first hand. Particularily poignent was the conversation where RONA stated they would pull out of the PA if they couldn't control CDI. 30 mins and another attack on an RKK pilot later and RONA were practising their well versed maneouver - The Ostrich. They buried their heads in the sands and pretending nothing was happening.

c0d and FU closed their borders quickly. As they were part of the PA's NAST, they were in a difficult position but chose the one they felt obliged to follow at the time:

c0d made us initially -10 and we did likewise. However, our fight was never with c0d. In fact, up until the end of F-E, we had been fighting alongside c0d.

FU then closed thier borders also:

However, FU had an obligation to both BNC and RKK. They can't close thier borders to us in accordance with the construction of their alliance. It states that RKK and BNC have mining and npc'ing rights to FU and that we can call for military assistance (i.e. weapons and ammo) should we need it.

Problems, problems, problems.

Solutions were forthcoming though.

As c0d questioned the PA about the CDI incident and looked at it impartially a bit more closely, they began to realise quite a bit about their current allies. One which took RKK much longer to realise.

Basically, PA has traditionally been run by 5 corporations - RONA, CDI, Bladerunners, OI and GODS. Back in the NVA alongside the other corporations we managed to maintain a balance however, there was always an "old boys network" feel about the 5 corporations... one which eventually led to it's demise.

Capt Spock, Fleet Commander of NSN had been party to the attack on ships under my control by CDI during a 3 hour battle against F-E. When he questioned CDI in a PA Meeting, he was told to "suck on my phat one" by the CDI rep. This opened his eyes to the PA and NSN, SLI and Bladerunners were on the verge of pulling out of the PA. Unfortunately, the war kept them in PA. Instead of doing the right thing and going against the PA, they decided to remain within the PA to fight.

Capt Spock couldn't live with them though and moved over to RKK.
In a truly frank speech from one of the quietest people in RKK, he posted here:

So when c0d tried to infiltrate that "old boy network" through NAST and work alongside PA, they were firmly shown that they were to be viewed as small fry working for PA.

So c0d rebelled and kicked PA from NAST:

In it's place, NORAD were moved in and in particular, BNC:

FU finally managed to get PA to fire upon them and they also joined the war on our side.

Official war declarations against the PA were then forthcoming from c0d, FU, NORAD and UNICOR.

Even RONA swayed and pondered their future:

But in the end, the old boys network remained firm and true and the first shots of the war began.

LOLZZ!! /emote should read the story before asking questions. Very next segment, my answer. I withdraw my comments about wishing I'd joined Reikoku. :)

My original post below:

I have been thoroughly enjoying these stories and have found myself several times wishing that I had heard of and caught on with Reikoku when I started playing eve, or soon thereafter (June '03).

However, I found reason to pause here:

Even RONA swayed and pondered their future:

Is it true as this board states that RKK had positive standing towards m0o?

Thanks, and still enjoying,

Thanks for your response Galavet. I understand. I'm sure the decision to join with pirates was difficult initially, and it is one that I have been unable to make, despite my best friend in all of Eve making that choice. I am also sure that flying alongside such outstanding pilots has been enjoyable and enlightening. Luck to you and no offense intended.

:) Nothing really. I certainly have a tremendous amount of respect for their pvp capabilities, and have been tolled by them myself. However much was made in the early segments of Reikoku history about RKK being anti-pirate. I have always tried to be anti-pirate myself, from my earliest beginnings as a pilot, so I was initially surprised. As I said above, I understand. Also, I am now a member of Stain, which I originally rejected because I had heard of neutral=KOS policies in Stain space, so in that regard I am not as pure as I would like to be.

Anyway, cheers, good flying.
